Boston Pizza

This entryway is what the mall calls "Restaurant Row", but it sadly has a large space that was never filled (possibly connected to the one on the inside) taking up the right side of the plaza space. I remember when I was younger, Boston Pizza was somewhere we often went when we were in Canada, but it has to have been at least 10-15 years since I've been to one (and I didn't get around to that on this Vancouver visit). I didn't realize Boston Pizza was a local Vancouver-area business, being based in Richmond (which is just a couple miles north of Tsawwassen, on the way to Vancouver proper). I also had it in my head that the US and Canadian chains were completely separate, like the Old Spaghetti Factory, but apparently that's not the case! I believe Boston Pizza, long ago, had a standalone location elsewhere in Tsawwassen, but I could be misremembering.

  1. Canada has some very misleadingly named restaurants like Boston Pizza and New York Fries. Both are Canadian chains, but as you say, Boston Pizza does have locations in the US. I've never been to a Boston Pizza, but I have been to New York Fries. Given the popularity of Boston Pizza in Canada, I probably should give it a try when I'm up there next, but I'm usually drawn to A&W when I am in Canada. A&W Canada is very good!

    1. I always knew Boston Pizza was Canadian and not from Boston itself, but I never realized which part of Canada it is from!

A&W is another interesting case, since it seems they're all but dead in the US (or at least in the Northwest), but seem to still be very popular in Canada! Of course, most of their locations that I saw in Canada were in food courts, which are themselves still quite popular in Canada.
