Baked bread (as opposed to, I don't know, microwaved?)

I was glad to see that Safeway left the various local flair images in this store intact during the remodel, though the new full-height cases block part of the bakery's one. The collage here is quite similar to the ones used in several new-build Seattle Safeways from the early 00s; I wonder if any of those stores would have originally had more local flair on the interior (since most of the signs I've found were installed in parking garages) that was stripped out during the Lifestyle remodels.

  1. Is that local flair a photo of a school? Whatever it is, the barrel-shaped roof of whatever is in the photo, probably a gymnasium, seems very fitting at a Safeway even if it isn't a Marina Safeway!

Given the paltry selection of donuts & pastries in the case, I'm guessing "all-day delicious" is more like a few hours of delicious until things sell out, lol. If this Safeway does indeed have a 'ghost bakery', they ought to be able to replenish sold out items, but I'm guessing the baking staff only operates on limited hours and maybe they don't make new things past a certain time to reduce wastage. Whatever the case is, I think the slogan isn't quite correct! Sincerely, empty donuts & pastries case.

    1. Yep, that's the school that was on this site until QFC built this store.

Ha! Yeah, Safeway definitely doesn't staff their bakeries full time like they used to... but even before Albertsons' cost cutting, it was normal to see this later in the day. I don't know what Safeway was thinking when they came up with that slogan! 🙂
