At least by QFC standards, the front wall is sure a long way away here! This is the only view I have showing the actual meat and seafood counter -- despite the signage, there's just one meat/seafood department here, and the service meat counter is actually under the "fresh fish" sign.
It is very strange seeing produce so close to the meat counter! This is one of those tiny, odd-shape QFC specials even if this QFC isn't really any smaller than at least one Kroger here in Houston which has produce quite far from the meats (though, granted, that Kroger does not have a meat counter).
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit strange to see the Bountiful baskets so up-close here. If this was a Houston Kroger, it likely would not have used the Bountiful baskets and it would have just had the department name lettering directly on the wall. This is what Kroger typically does around here with low walls. Then again, given the most recent The Year of Kroger post that was published, Kroger might have just left the department names off completely! That store wasn't always like that, it did have the Bountiful baskets at one time. I don't know what happened to them!
Yep, this is definitely a weird layout! I hadn't thought about that specific part since my local Safeway has its meat department right off the produce section, even closer than in this store, but that store's layout is extremely weird too.
DeleteQFC has done all sorts of odd things with Bountiful! I think this is probably the most common version, but I've seen stores with just the lettering on the walls, and some in between with just the metal part, not the wood slats (or, at least, I think I've seen that -- I may have imagined it, since the store that I thought had it actually just has plain letters).
