Lies, all lies

As ingrained as the "lying fishermen" stereotype is in popular culture, it's funny to see it used in the context of a store catering to them! I didn't realize that concept extended to other outdoors types, but despite growing up somewhere where it seemed everyone I knew was into hunting and fishing, that just isn't something that ever had any appeal to me. Anyway, even from here, Bass Pro Shops' elaborate design is quite apparent, with the full-size replica log cabin on the left and faux rock wall in the entryway itself.

  1. I'm not much of a fisherman either, but many years ago, over 25 years ago at this point, I happened to be in Springfield, MO for a few days and I visited the flagship Bass Pro Shops store there. In fact, it might have been the only Bass Pro Shops store at the time, I don't know. It certainly did feel like a museum type place more than a retail store if I remember correctly, but it has been quite a long time ago! Oddly enough, even though I am not much of a fisherman, we did take fishing poles with us on that trip since that area, and Arkansas which we were visiting as well, have many great fishing areas.

Of course, given the theme of this post, you might think this whole claim is a big lie, but this is no fishy tale, lol.

    1. Ha! I've never so much as touched a fishing pole (at least that I can remember), so you're certainly a step ahead of me there!
