I'm not entirely sure when this store was built, since I can't get the very frustrating BC property assessment website to take any version of this place's address -- but I'm pretty sure it's the oldest Safeway in Vancouver! On the other hand, it also has the newest decor package used by Vancouver Safeways, and the only one I haven't posted yet, so there's all sorts of cool stuff going on here.
Wow, that's interesting to see a diamond sign and a Marina store. The diamond signs still exist here in Houston, but obviously the Safeways are long gone. Here's an example of HEB reusing a Safeway diamond sign. The Safeway building itself was demolished in around 2004 to make room for the parking lot for the new HEB building: https://goo.gl/maps/EYwdGib4GcxV17Lo6
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many of those diamond signs are in use in Washington and Oregon by Safeway or by someone else in an old Safeway spot.
I'm sure there are still some around, but I can't remember the last time I saw one being used by anyone!
