At least this picture, which actually shows all three registers at the same time unlike all my others, turned out fine. That little bit of stripy concrete block to the left of the doors is odd, especially since it was painted a different color than the rest of the walls, making it stand out.
Huh, I've never seen those Costco-like stickers on the checkstands at the Krogers here in Houston instructing where the items go and where the carts go. Perhaps this is just a NW thing given that Costco has it as well. Perhaps people in the NW still expect the clerks to unload the items off the cart? We do still have the odd Kroger that does have beltless checkstands where the clerks do pull items directly off the cart.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not sure what's up with those, but I think they're fairly common at Fred Meyer. Maybe it's a holdover from the days when they had a successful general merchandise department and therefore sold more large/heavy items? I'm not aware of any major chain around here where you aren't expected to unload your own cart, except Costco and even there it's hit and miss. Even the beltless checkouts that are fairly common at QFC are generally treated as customer-unload, as far as I know.
