Grey diamonds

As usual, the jewelry department was left pretty much as is; however, this store did get new graphics on the soffit above it, which look quite nice (though I'm guessing the second one from the left is supposed to touch the bottom of the soffit so the cut-off part would make sense). Those graphics are rather hit-and-miss in recent Banner remodels, as is the Banner woodgrain panel above the Starbucks kiosk.

  1. It looks like the self-checkout over on the left has a trap door under it! Maybe that's the welcome that not-so-valued customers get when they shop at Kroger...or Fred Meyer, lol. I assume those in the NW would get that "Welcome Valued Customer" Kroger self-checkout joke, but I really don't know!

Ok, maybe it's just a really bad concrete floor and not a trap door!

I suppose Fred Meyer is still emphasizing the Fred Meyer Jewelers? They've been de-emphasized, if not outright removed, at the Kroger Marketplace stores around here. At least that's what I've been told, it's been a few months since I've been to a Kroger Marketplace store. Kroger has really taken a lot of the Marketplace extras out of those stores over the last few years, at least around here, but I don't think most people are missing any of those extras.

    2. Yeah, that floor is pretty bad! The self checkouts around here say that too, but it took me a while to get what you were referring to, since I don't shop at QFC/Fred Meyer all that often...

I'm not sure I would say "emphasizing"... they seem to be forgotten about most of the time, and have been removed from a few (smaller) Fred Meyers over the years. But they aren't disappearing altogether like Playland, at least.
