I know I just said my trip to Vancouver was in a heat wave, and I know the sky is clearly very overcast in this picture -- the weather on my vacation was all over the place, and I believe this day was one where I was dodging rain storms all day! Anyway, I quite like this rather artsy angle looking up at the London Drugs facade that I swear must have been inspired by Circuit City stores of the time (I don't believe they had Canadian operations at that point). The old satellite dish still hanging on next to the sign structure seems perfect for this retro, electronics-focused place!
I know that Circuit City existed in Canada via The Source, but that was well after the Circuit City 'Plug Store' era. I'm not sure if Circuit City had any other dealings in Canada.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if London Drugs had the catchy advertising that Circuit City had during the Plug Store era. These commercials are probably as memorable as the Plug Stores! https://youtu.be/6ATYT8L2hjU
I don't know what London Drugs' electronics ads were like, but they wouldn't have been around at the time that one came out -- apparently, they didn't start really getting into electronics (beyond photography) until around 1995!
DeleteYep, Circuit City was definitely my first thought here!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it's not just me!
