As Anonymous in Houston mentioned yesterday, this decor package is quite simple -- the wall decor is pretty much limited to underlined department names set against a solid-colored wall (though at least most of the colors are pretty bold, unlike the blah colors in so many present-day packages). There are no graphics or patterns at all, and with most designs I would object to that, but it looks pretty decent here -- that's probably down to the colors helping to break up blank spaces, plus this store being fairly small so it doesn't have the large expanses of blank wall that plague, say, Artisan Fred Meyers. The service departments do look rather bland, though, with plain wall paneling rather than any sort of (faux-)tile.
The way that the descender of the y ties in perfectly to the underline is a very nice touch -- I can't imagine many US chains being able to pull that off, given the low quality of decor installation I'm used to seeing these days!
Huh, that underlined orange Bakery decor reminds me of the logos used by the old Buttrey Food & Drug chain owned by Albertsons in the NW! Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buttrey_Food_%26_Drug
ReplyDeleteAs basic as this is, it does look pretty neat. That said, as you say, I don't think this would scale nearly as well at a big, modern supermarket.
Ha, that really does look similar!
DeleteYep, definitely agree about the descender on the y!
