The wall decor in particular is unlike anything I've seen at any other Fred Meyer, though it shares some similarities with the experimental Greenwood Decor. I was quite amused to see the prominent use of the "looped square" symbol, something that by 2010 had long been synonymous with the Command key for mac users (the title of this post being borrowed directly from the keyboard I'm typing this on). I very much prefer this decor to the Greenwood version (which was directly used in some other late-stage Northwest stores), and it's a much more upscale look in my opinion.

Odd. While they have plenty of TVs for sale, I typically associate 'Home Theater' with audio as much as I do with TVs. I don't see any audio equipment for sale in what is visible in this photo at least! Maybe they did sell more audio stuff back when this decor was new, but otherwise I wonder if this name is a bit misleading!
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit odd to see Apple imagery in the land of Microsoft that is the Northwest!
Yeah, Fred Meyer's electronics section (like most of their general merchandise departments) has very much gone downhill in recent years. I'm not sure what their selection of audio stuff would have been like in 2010, but I'm sure it was better than today.
DeleteHa! I doubt it was intentional, but who knows. While the Eastside area is Microsoft-land, Kirkland itself (the city this store is in) has Google as its main tech employer instead!
I think this décor is pretty cool!
