Up on the second floor, I was able to get a closeup of the weird (in a cool way) sci-fi circular tower thing, unfortunately highlighting the one dead leg. At this point, it was starting to get pretty dark out, with the sun fully set -- all the better for getting pictures of the neon against the big skylights!
Huh, I was wondering what BathPlanet might be! I was wondering if maybe they were some sort of new version of Pacific Linens, a long-dead chain of NW stores that were similar to Bed, Bath, & Beyond, but nope. BathPlanet is simply a business that does bathroom remodels. Oh well, lol.
ReplyDeleteI recently did a guest blog post at HHR about a Houston area Randall's store which I'm pretty sure I have not shown you before. Mike had taken the photos of this place and asked me to do the post about it. I think you might enjoy this one as it really shows Colorful Lifestyle v2 in a style of store that is very different from the typical Safeway design. It's also different in some ways from any Randall's you've seen before since this was an early 1990s 'New Generation' store. I was also sure to link to your blog when using your signature 'Stepping inside' title for one of the photo captions, lol. In many ways, this store tour is kind of similar to your store tours so maybe you'll find some similarities in presentation. Anyway, you can compare this to the old Lifestyle v2 decor at this store by looking at the old photos on Google Maps. Here's the blog post: https://houstonhistoricretail.com/2022/10/05/south-shore-harbour-randalls-gets-a-colorful-remodel/
Yeah, there are sure a lot of unconventional tenants in this mall, but that's still better than no tenants.
DeleteThanks for the shoutout! Something felt quite familiar when I read through that post, and it's clearly not the decor or overall design of the store, so yeah, I think it is a bit similar to my posts! 🙂
