Westlake Center was designed with a grand atrium in its center, but for some reason, its current owners decided to almost completely fill that in when they remodeled the mall in the late 2010s, taking away the only interesting thing about this place. If I'm not mistaken, this photo is taken from a similar angle to the one I linked, just a bit behind where the photographer was standing for that one. The closed-in walls and solid ceiling make the space feel much smaller and more cramped than it used to be, and in the end, all they gained was a bunch of space that largely remains empty. This mall's renovation wasn't quite the disaster that Pacific Place's was, but it still seems like quite the poor choice in retrospect.
Well that's a shame.
