More from the main concourse

It's probably a good thing that no one wanted to build this out as a real mall with shops on both sides, since it's already a bit claustrophobic with the very low ceiling. This corridor runs on top of the trackway below, with the two side platforms (since this was originally designed for buses and I guess they didn't want to run them on the left -- which was proposed in older designs for the tunnel -- or order buses that were even weirder and more custom than the weird custom buses that were bought for the original tunnel service) under the open areas on both sides. The trim band along the ceiling sure reminds me of something -- though I can't imagine any retail chain springing for actual stone for their decor packages! 😉
