Safeway's Seattle division has been doing quite a few mixed-use redevelopments of their urban stores in recent years, but nothing quite like the high-rises Safeway Canada has built! Interestingly, the weird grey stripy panels along the side of the building are actually giant lights, which led to a lot of complaints when the store first opened (and a mention in Vancouver's satirical news site); apparently they later decided to stop running them most of the time, but even that didn't solve all of their issues. Perhaps an ultra-bright light show isn't the best idea for an art installation in a residential area! (They're supposed to look more like this.)
