The old, abandoned barn

The reason for the weird dairy location becomes apparent when you get over to where it should be -- the entire right side of the store, where the dairy and frozen departments should be, is closed off! I have no clue what's going on here -- Retail Retell already pointed out the large banner in the front of the store claiming that there was a remodel ongoing, but there were absolutely no signs of that when I was here, and recent Google Maps photos don't show any changes (plus, the sad state of the flooring makes me think it had already been like this for quite some time before I visited). Instead, it looks like they're just using this as extra back room space. Maybe CampeĆ³n just didn't need all of the floor space that Albertsons used, and particularly didn't need all of the refrigerated and frozen cases? Maybe the cases broke down and they didn't feel like fixing them? I don't have any answers... it's just weird. At least the dairy barn is still hanging on, seemingly pretty much identical to how Albertsons installed it. Haggen left it as is, but stuck on yet another pair of dairy murals, the third one in this store (as the alcoves that form the current dairy department have a pair each).

  1. Wow, that's pretty crazy that the old dairy barn has been turned into a storage barn! Yeah, given the state of the flooring, it does not appear that there are any immediate plans to open this space to the public anytime soon. It's too bad they didn't close this area off in a more professional way, but OTOH, I suppose that let you look into the old Grocery Palace barn!

    1. Yeah, I'd much prefer this over having it be all walled off, especially since it's the most intact Grocery Palace bit remaining!
