Table alley

As is common at Hispanic grocery stores, this place has a fairly large seating area, intended for people to eat at after getting food from the deli. While this placement looks a little awkward, I've seen some Grocery Palace-layout Albertsons have a similar setup (especially if their Starbucks kiosk is in this corridor), so it wouldn't be surprising if this was original to Albertsons (just with newer furniture).

  1. I honestly don't remember what Albertsons had in this space of our Grocery Palace stores, but the local Krogertsons uses this space as the cart area!

Ah, so this place does have a seating area, but a rather remote one. It almost looks like a small school cafeteria, but with trendy furniture, lol. The child booster seats look like they could be from a Wendy's or something. They do look familiar.

    1. Interesting! Normally these stores have carts in the vestibule between the two sets of doors.

It's not that strangely located -- the deli is just on the other side of the entrance doors. I don't remember if this store had anything set up for people to pay at the deli... if not, they would have to walk by here to get to the checkouts anyway.

    2. Odd, the local Grocery Palace Krogertsons does not have a vestibule. I don't think it did as an Albertsons either.

  2. The customer service desk and dry cleaner pickup counter would have been located immediately to the right in my old Grocery Palace Albertsons when it was originally opened. During the "refresh" I mentioned in the previous comment (when the service desk was moved to the old photo counter), the wall to the left became the new home of books/magazines.

    1. I had thought those light fixtures on the left wall here looked a lot like ones I've seen in pictures of Grocery Palace books and magazines departments, but I felt like this was a very strange location for that -- I guess not!
