I had kind of hoped the "serving Davenport since" sign would tell me when this store was built, but no luck -- apparently this is actually the second Safeway in Davenport, replacing what must have been an absolutely tiny, probably downtown-style store. The checkouts here appear to be original to the Lifestyle v2 remodel, though even this small-town store got its checkout belts wrapped in lottery ads, something new that Safeway has started doing over the past year or so (Anonymous in Houston mentioned that he saw them in his area a bit earlier).

  1. Randall's here in Houston has ads on their conveyor belts, but they are ads for in-store programs such as for the online coupons. I have not seen them for anything else like the lottery (which we do have, but stores don't do a whole lot to promote it so maybe they don't make much money off it here).

    1. Interesting! I've seen a few stores with ads for Safeway programs or other outside businesses, but the lottery ads (which I'm pretty sure are paid for by the lottery, since they advertise extremely heavily around here, but I can't be certain) are by far the most common.
