The low-effort addition of newer decor this store got at some point led to some strange scenes like this, where the different eras of signs say completely different things! Presumably, this was done like this because the raised ceiling (and therefore the upper soffit the signs are installed on) ends before you get to the meat department (which is off to the left), but it still looks weird! The main seafood service department is under the "best seafood" sign in the background, blocked by the live fish tank (holy cow, $36 a pound!).
One thing about Asian supermarkets here, at least the lower-end ones, is that their seafood departments have a fishy smell which sometimes smells throughout the entire store. Did this H Mart do a good job of not having that smell or at least containing it to the seafood department?
ReplyDeleteMaybe for better or for worse, blogs still can't convey a sense of smell. That might be bad news for posts about bakeries, but perhaps it's good news when the posts are about seafood departments, lol.
Hmm... if it was, it certainly wasn't as memorable as at some other Asian grocery stores I've visited, so it probably wasn't too bad!
