So the women's department got an ice cream vending machine, while the men's department got a beef jerky and pepperoni one... there's no question which I would prefer, and it's not this one! Off behind that is the shoe shine stand, which has some interesting artwork that I wasn't able to get a picture of because, unlike virtually every single shoe shine stand I've seen in my life, there were actually employees at this one!
I remember when shoe shine stations were not uncommon and people actually used them! These days, I hardly see them except at hotels and airports. That's interesting that Nordstorm still has them and seemingly has a couple of shoe shiners.
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly a bit odd to see an ad for beef jerky and pepperoni at a Nordstorm! I suppose those products would do well in the pet/dog department if Nordstorm has one, lol.
Yeah, airports are about the only place I've seen them, and I don't think I've ever seen an airport shoe shine stand that was actually staffed. There's also an office building near mine that has one too, and before COVID times it was fairly common to see staff there, but I haven't been by there very much in recent years. I was always surprised to see it operational, since shoe shining seems like such an old-fashioned thing (especially in the northwest)!
DeleteHa, I guess they were trying to sell "manly" foods!
