Order pickup (of course)

Despite the recent remodel, Nordstrom has already had to repurpose some of the salesfloor to accommodate a large order pickup/storage area, next to the cafe. At least they did a decent job of designing the fixtures for this area, which we'll see in greater detail later.

  1. I'm not sure about having such an open pickup area at an upscale store like Nordstrom. There's some potential for the area to look rather messy I suppose. It doesn't look too bad in the photo, but without anyone working there, I wonder how busy it is.

Speaking of department stores, did you hear the rumor about Simon and Brookfield (JCPenney's owners) potentially buying Kohl's? It would be odd if that happened and I could see some store closures if it did happen. Given Simon and Brookfield's interest in keeping malls strong, would they close shopping center stores to boost malls? It's hard to say I suppose.

    1. Yeah, it's definitely not the greatest look. And it did seem to be surprisingly empty, too, so it's quite likely that Nordstrom won't keep it around long term.

Yeah, I had heard that. There has been a lot of talk about Kohl's lately, so it's hard for me to say whether this is something real or just more empty talk. Seems like those companies already have their hands full trying to keep JCPenney afloat, so them taking on Kohl's too doesn't seem like the greatest idea...
