Dead end

Turning the other way, the actionway ends in this awkward dead end, which almost looks as if it was meant to connect through to the main salesfloor on the other side of the wall (though I doubt that was ever actually the case, and I have no idea whether it would even end up in a logical point on the other side). At least superficially, it would make sense for there to be a connection here, since that would mean the grocery and general merchandise salesfloors are just divided by a service department island, a typical element for Fred Meyer stores, but the presence of checkouts on the other side of the wall would still mean it's a bit weird. This corner is also the point where the new Banner decor abruptly transitions back to 80s checkerboard trim!
