Off to the left of the entryway is the floral department, with an arbor above that really reminds me of Safeway Lifestyle decor; beyond that are the checkouts, which have their own, highly impressive canopy, one of the many highly interesting parts of this decor. Over here is also one of the few obvious signs of integration with Safeway -- all of the register electronics are the same ones you would see at Safeway, and they've even stuck in a pod of self checkouts.
That canopy is really neat and so is the tile under that little part of the floral department. The Haggens like this remind me a bit of the Tom Thumbs in Dallas that are in old The Fresh Market locations with hybrid TFM and Safeway Modern decor. They look really nice and it would be great if Safeway rolled that look out at more locations which use the Modern decor. Granted, I know they won't, but it would be neat if they did especially at more upscale locations. Link: https://goo.gl/maps/srd8GDopXKar1hQa7
ReplyDeleteYeah, those stores are super cool! That may well be the nicest current Safeway decor, even if it isn't actually a Safeway package at all. They do have a few of their own current upscale packages -- one that seems to be exclusive to Haggen (which I have pictures of, but I want better ones), at least one active Market Street package, and the Pavillions/Jewel-Osco "Ultra-Premium" package -- but none of them look quite as nice as those old Fresh Market stores. (By the way, it looks like Blogger has a new comment interface -- hopefully that will fix our problems with posting comments, though right now it isn't allowing me to post as my actual account, so that's annoying.)
DeleteYeah, I noticed the new comment box when I replied to one of Sing Oil Blog's guest posts at My Florida Retail the other day. It worked well enough for me, but I didn't see it again until now. Here's to hoping it'll actually work properly, but it sounds like it might not be working well for you. Ugh, Blogger!
DeleteYeah, those The Fresh Market Tom Thumbs are really something. I'm less familiar with some of the decor packages Albertsons uses with their banners in the North/Northeast. I saw it written the other day that Acme is doing well in Philadelphia so Albertsons must be doing something well up there.
I don't know all that much about that part of the country either, but Acme has a very nice custom decor that they've used in a couple stores up there -- check this store out! I originally thought it was a special one-off thing, but it's since shown up in at least one other store. Plaza Acme put together a decor list for all Acme stores a few months back -- apparently, I haven't ever integrated it into my Safeway/Albertsons master list, but that's on my list to do eventually.
