Electronics is perhaps the most famous department for Goodwill, but there wasn't anything particularly interesting that I saw here. In fact, the whole section was looking surprisingly thin on this visit.
Thin? Wow, it's shocking to see a Goodwill electronics department so well stocked around here! These days, the only thing you can count on Goodwill having in any quantity are old DVD players (usually without a remote). Not only does this Goodwill appear to have several DVD players, they also have, what, 11 stereo or home theater receivers?! I'm not sure if I've ever seen our Goodwills have more than 3 of those at any given time. In addition to that, I see a couple of 6 disc magazine-based CD changers, one of those mega CD changers that holds like 100 discs, and some other stuff. I'd be absolutely thrilled to see that kind of selection!
Granted, if they have that much stuff, my guess is that maybe the prices aren't great and that's why the equipment isn't moving. I could be wrong about that. The last time I saw a thrift with that kind of selection was actually pretty recently at the new Deseret Industries thrift store in town run by the Mormon church that is in an old Oshman's SuperSports/The Sports Authority store by Willowbrook Mall. Their prices weren't very good though, but they did have some neat stuff.
Interesting! It's been a while since I visited Goodwill on a regular basis, but I remember them having a pretty good electronics section. Anyway, it did seem like electronics was a fairly popular department on my visit, but I can't say anything about the prices since I didn't pay attention.
