Most of the right side of the store is full of clothing, displayed on Goodwill's standard long, mixed-up racks. I quite like the triangles of color on the floor -- almost looks like something Albertsons could have used in the Grocery Palace era (though I know it's not). Off in the background, I'm surprised to see a sign for a mattress department -- I thought that was something that Goodwill normally didn't sell.
This looks quite different from our Houston Goodwills in that our Goodwills are usually rectangular in shape with the front and back of the stores being the short end of the rectangle and the sidewalls being the long walls. Due to the long nature of our stores versus the wide nature of this Willbertsons, there are fewer racks of clothes, but longer ones. Also, the decor is quite different as well.
ReplyDeleteI think here recently, even the Goodwills here have started to sell some new mattresses. It's a bit strange, I'm not sure who goes to Goodwill to buy new merchandise, but I guess they think there is a market for such things. It seems to me that in some markets, the Goodwills sell more new merchandise than in others. For a long time, our Goodwills didn't sell any new merchandise at all. Now there are some new products, but still not as much as I see in other markets.
Basically all of the Goodwills I've ever visited have a completely different layout, so don't take this is a standard for anything! The one in Port Angeles is also a former Albertsons, but it's basically square and has an even larger clothing department.
DeleteGoodwills around here do sell a lot of new merchandise. It seems like maybe 10 or 15 years ago, there was a big shift in what they sell and lots of new merchandise started coming in. Interesting to hear that it's so different in your area!
