Turning towards the store, here's a rather poor look at the main Target facade. Is it just me, or does this facade design seem a bit newer than 1992? I get lost in Target's design history, but I would have expected something like this for a 1992-built store. Historic aerials also seem to show that the facade was redone (and possibly the store expanded) at some point. Off to the left of the main facade are a bunch of blacked-out windows -- I wonder what those would originally have been for (or perhaps they were always blacked out and are just for decoration).

Whoa, there is a shopping center named Westwood Village in the Houston suburbs of The Woodlands/Magnolia which also has a Target in it! Unlike the WA Westwood Village which has Staples and Marshalls, the Houston one has OfficeMax and TJMaxx. Well, given the presence of OfficeMax, I suppose we know which one Retail Retell will prefer!

If I had to guess, I would guess that the facade here was redone at some point in the 2000s. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable about Target will know for sure. Here in Houston, we were one of Target's first expansion areas so most of our stores were built in the 1970s and 1980s. The next wave didn't really come until the mid-1990s so I can't say for sure what Target was doing in the early 1990s. The stripes stores might have been a mid-1990s thing. Checking some records, most of the 1992-built Targets in Texas were Target Greatland stores which had two sets of entrances. A rare example of a 1992-built regular Target in Texas would be this one in College Station which has a very 1980s looking facade: https://goo.gl/maps/KJdQDvVZ4koEvPow8
Funny! It's always interesting how some shopping center names get reused over and over again. That Westwood Village looks way newer than this one!
DeleteYeah, that's more like what I'd expect an early-90s Target to look like. Sadly, we never got those large-format Targets (Greatland or Super) in this part of the country.
Thanks for the link! Yeah, I agree, this does seem newer. The windows are interesting also.
