This store has quite a bit of separation between the entrance and exit doors, with the restrooms and customer service counter between them, and it's clear that this was designed for one-way flow (even before COVID), unusually for Fred Meyer. (Though the crazy amount of space between the two rows of registers might mean that they were expecting people to enter through here, which would be rather awkward with the self checkout lines!) Those metal mesh panells with plastic on them are a standard COVID-era addition to Fred Meyer and QFC self checkouts (and perhaps other Kroger brands as well).
Haven't seen those mesh things around here either.
ReplyDeleteI can't say I've seen those mesh dividers at the self-checkouts at Krogers here in Houston either. Then again, I kind of despise those self-checkouts so maybe I have not paid close attention to them. That said, I do use them on occasion so I think I would have noticed them if they existed.
DeleteInteresting! The fact that both QFC and Fred Meyer (which are separate divisions) used them made me think it might be chain-wide, but I guess not.
