Turning to the right, there's a silly slogan, along with the start of the garden center. It's extremely strange to see bird food on the pharmacy wall, rather than medicines!
Maybe the pharmacist was on a lunch break? I know the customer service desks at out Krogers are known to be closed for 30 minute intervals because the staff supposed to be working it are on break. It's a bummer if you actually need anything from them.
Maybe, though I would have thought they would have fully closed it in that case. Who knows.
Interesting to hear that about Kroger's customer service counters. Safeway's ones around here rarely seem to be staffed full time, but I've never seen one actually closed -- they seem to share staff with the self checkouts and/or the regular checkout lanes.
I was caught out about a month ago with a Kroger customer service counter break. I went to get my auto tag renewed, which Kroger does, but the customer service desk at the location I went to was temporarily closed since the person working it was on break. I could have waited, but I went to a different location, a nearby Krogertsons, instead and got it there.
It seems to me that Kroger has been going with lean staffing at some of their locations here lately and so that might be related to some of these unscheduled service department closures. I was shopping at a Kroger last Saturday at a pretty prime shopping time and they only had one checkout open. Fortunately, the line wasn't exactly Walmart-level long, but the store probably should have had at least two lines open. Hopefully these are just fluke deals and not a sign of what Kroger has planned for the future.
Hopefully it's just COVID-related short staffing and Kroger isn't following Albertsons' lead! Speaking of which, our local Safeways have been desperately short on staff lately, since Albertsons was already running their stores with a skeleton crew ever since the merger, so the economy-wide staffing issues of 2021 have hit them hard.
