Being a fairly old store, this store is quite a bit smaller than most local Albertsons, topping out at just 11 aisles. (It's closer to a Safeway size than Albertsons, which makes it feel a bit weird that this is the one chosen to stay as an Albertsons!) Also, looking at how different the wood grain is on these two aisle markers, it's clear that these aisle markers are either real wood (or veneer), or much better fake wood than I'm used to seeing in signs like this! Safeway's late-Lifestyle ones very clearly have the same fake wood grain pattern on every aisle marker.
Lol at the title! And interesting point about the wood. I was under the impression true wood was no longer used in a lot of décor, but I don't really have much of anything to back that up besides the idea that it's a lot heavier to hang and more dangerous if it were to fall; the Public Restrooms sign I have is wood and is from Albertsons though, so perhaps they never stopped even if everyone else did.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Me too, which is why I was thinking these might just be better fake wood (perhaps using real wood veneer instead of fake woodgrain), though they are thin enough that it's possible that they're just one sheet of plywood with stuff stuck to it!
DeleteYou're welcome! And yep, good theories.
