Since 1978 (or earlier)

One nice thing about Heritage's front end is the "proudly serving your community" sign, which also seems like a bit of Safeway influence to me. However, there's a big difference in implementation -- Safeway's signs (which they've used for many decades) list the year of the first store in a community (possibly also including chains that they bought out way back when), while the Heritage version lists the year that the specific store that the sign is in was built. Personally, I like Safeway's version (which sadly is no longer used in the Modern decor) better, though this version is helpful to people like me trying to track down store history!
