Just ask

Normally, Walmart seems to try to hide their abandoned tenant spaces as much as possible. Here, they're clearly trying a different tactic, plastering the whole thing in a big for-lease ad! It's interesting to see it advertised in this way -- it seems like Walmart typically prefers to lease their front end spaces to larger companies that have locations in a large number of Walmarts, but here they seem to be looking for smaller local businesses.

  1. I'm hearing that some Walmarts around here have had Claire's ear piercing stores open up in the leased areas. Here's a photo of one at a Houston Walmart: https://goo.gl/maps/KRGfkxPJWg8CPhbw8

That Walmart is right next to something interesting that just opened back up in Houston a couple of weeks ago after a LONG absence...Wienerschnitzel! Check it out, the location is so small that they have to store their buns in the dining room!: https://goo.gl/maps/XxTR16hWv9G7uEqn6

    1. Yeah, I've heard of those -- sounds like they're a fairly common new Walmart tenant. I don't think they've shown up locally yet, but then again, I don't visit Walmart very frequently!

Wienerschnitzel, on the other hand, isn't a chain I've heard of before. I was going to say we didn't have them around here, but there are at least two of them locally, one of which is even in a classic A-frame building. So I guess they just aren't on my radar!
