Turning towards the front wall, here's the customer service department, along with the new, ultramodern self checkouts. But there's something weird here that I totally didn't notice at the time... Anonymous in Houston and I have discussed previously that Safeways around here now use dual-branded (Albertsons/Safeway) plastic bags, in Safeway's beige color scheme. But here, in an actual Albertsons, they had bags that just had the Safeway logo on them -- and they're white plastic, which isn't a style that I remember Safeway ever using. So I have no clue what's going on here, other than that Safeway seems to be having another identity crisis!
Huh, that's weird. Randall's here still seems to be using the generic repeating 'Thank You!' bags that we've discussed before. I reckon all Albertsons, Tom Thumbs, and Randall's in Texas and Louisiana are using those bags. That said, during my last visit to Randall's, I noticed one of the other checkouts was using regular Albertsons tan bags! Albertsons bags occasionally get used at Randall's since the merger, but it seems like those are rare and probably accidental.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly seems that Albertsons isn't putting much effort into making sure stores have the right bags, lol.
That's for sure! I suspect that's the reason for the weirdly generic ones in your area, but you'd think they'd be covered around here by just having the dual-logo ones. It's funny that of all the stores to get Safeway-only bags, they ended up at one of the few remaining Albertsons!
DeleteMaybe the Safeway-only bags were meant to go to some part of the country where they only have Safeway stores. Or maybe it's old stock that they decided to give to Albertsons. It's hard to say, but very strange nonetheless! I wouldn't be surprised if you end up with Haggen bags at Albertsons or Safeway one of these days, lol.
DeleteNow I wonder what bags Haggen uses! It's been a while since I've been there, but I wouldn't be too surprised if they also use the Albertsons/Safeway bags these days, since they have been integrating them into the Safeway fold more and more, sadly. I have seen Haggen carts at a Safeway before, though they were just ones from Safeway or Albertsons that got rebranded during the brief Haggen expansion period.
DeleteLOL! I will say I have seen several signs in places indicating there's a plastic bag shortage (among everything else...), so if that's true maybe that has a part to play in this.
ReplyDeleteOh boy... I guess I shouldn't be surprised since everything is having supply chain issues. Yep, that's a reasonable guess -- I've seen the normal ones at stores I've visited more recently than this one, but perhaps there were worse issues around the time I visited this store.
