Returning to the front actionway, here's a view towards the checkouts -- not that you can see that, thanks to the massive pallet displays of dog food and such in the middle of the actionway! Seriously, were they expecting people to impulse-buy a 50-pound bag of dog food? Anyway, the hair care icon is another one that makes clever use of the Walmart spark logo -- though I find it a little odd that they use the logo in a few of the icons, but nowhere near all of them.
I don't have a dog so I don't know for sure, but I suspect the pricing of that dog food is quite low and so Walmart is giving it a prominent position to kind of promote how low their prices are. I could be wrong about that, but I suspect buying similar food elsewhere would be more expensive.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of people in this part of the store! I certainly prefer a less hectic shopping experience especially these days. That said, in at least this part of the store, the Walmart seems to have pretty good inventory.
I find the bright lighting by the lotion shelves to be kind of out of place. I know some other stores do that for health & beauty stuff, but the problem with having bright lights in such a warehouse-y looking store is that it really emphasizes how bad it looks. For example, the light reflections hitting the concrete floors isn't a great look! Maybe that's just me who feels that way though!
I was a bit shocked when I found this Kroger ad from 1989 tonight. I surely would have seen these when they were new, but I don't remember this ad campaign even though I certainly remember that Kroger used a scissor marketing theme to emphasize low prices. This is certainly an odd spin on scissors though! Link: https://youtu.be/hfw-Jbtn0r0?t=1817
Here's another ad from the same campaign: https://youtu.be/C-K6XglOtBc?t=1770
Usually Kroger commercials weren't so edgy, lol.
Yeah, probably. Just seems like a somewhat strange choice.
DeleteI agree -- this store was way too busy for me! Certainly out of the ordinary for Walmarts around here, haha! The cosmetics and health/beauty departments definitely had some stock issues, but not too bad, I suppose.
I suspect that those weird bare light boxes were supposed to have some type of pattern, or at least brand names, printed on them. At least, that's what I'm used to seeing from Walmart, and they certainly look out of place as is!
Ha, I guess that just goes to show that weird advertisements aren't a new thing for Kroger!
