In a modern Walmart, I feel like this is about as close to local flair as you're going to get... so I'll take it, even if I'm not particularly impressed. (The line drawings feel like a ripoff of Target circa a few years ago.) Apparently, it was peak watermelon season when I visited this store about six weeks ago, as this giant display wasn't even in the produce department, but around the corner in the entryway!
Fair point about the line drawings. Also, there wasn't any more local flair in this store? Aw, that's disappointing. The one I went to had additional examples, and I was hoping that was standard.
ReplyDeleteInteresting -- yeah, there was absolutely nothing in the rest of the store. Now that I think about it, I've seen local flair in pictures of Walmarts in other areas, but never in the northwest. ☹️
