Back along one of the main actionways, and right next to the escalator core and relief, was this random printer that had seemingly been forgotten about in the middle of the floor. Obviously, all of the people passing by and ignoring it were unaware of how useful having a printer at home (rather than just at work or school or the library) would become less than a month after I took this picture! (Yes, it does still feel a little weird for me, looking back at pictures from the first couple months of 2020...)
The orange price tag aside, that printer blends in well with the carpet!
ReplyDeleteGiven that printers are often sold as 'loss leaders' where the printer company will sell the printer at a loss in the hopes that people will buy them and buy expensive ink/toner, I guess there isn't much of a market for a used printer. I'm not sure if that printer has wireless printing and all the stuff that people want these days. That looks like a low-end B/W laser printer, but I'm not sure.
Ha! My printer is a very low-end black-and-white laser printer, but it's a very nice printer because it doesn't have those issues with expensive toner. The toner lasts forever compared to the ink cartridges I'm used to, and can be easily replaced with dirt-cheap knockoffs because it doesn't have the electronics that fancier printers have to reject cheap refills. It's a different kind than the one here, though, and I don't know what other brands do these days.
