Fancy flooring, empty

Continuing along the main actionway, that pattern continues, with the 4th Ave side of the building completely empty of even fixtures for sale. Speaking of which, it seems like the fixture sale had passed its peak by this time, though there were still some things to see on the other side of the basement salesfloor.

  1. That's some very nice flooring there. It's too bad there is no more B&M retail on that flooring now when so many retailers have such bad looking flooring! That flooring does remind me a bit of the Grocery Palace Albertsons bakery areas. Fortunately, the local Krogertsons has kept all the Grocery Palace flooring in place...for now at least. I hope that stays that way!

Speaking of Albertsons, the City of Garland, TX recently posted a video on YouTube of a Tom Thumb store that was recently remodeled in the area that features local flair historical photos as part of the renovated Colorful Lifestyle v2 decor at the store. Unlike some generic local flair, it seems Tom Thumb actually worked with a local historical society to find appropriate photos. I wonder what you this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lV7Fn-idmDI

Here's that store on Google Maps. You can see how it looked with regular Lifestyle v2 decor: https://goo.gl/maps/fSPBLmZGk4cWWwb57

    1. You're right, it does look like that! I'm pretty sure this was real wood/laminate flooring rather than just vinyl, though.

Interesting -- I didn't know "Colorful Lifestyle v2" was still in use! Those local flair photos look like what our few Lifestyle v3 stores have, and I know those photos also come from local historical organizations/museums. (They also typically include a photo of an old Safeway that's a predecessor to the current store, something I didn't notice in that video.) It is quite unusual to see the local flair photos substituting for the Lifestyle product photography, though!
