Speaking of floating...

One cool thing about this store's weird layout is that it got the cool "floating" sign, one of the many parts of the original Modern decor that were cut for most of Safeway's cheap remodels around here. But in this case, since the produce department lacks wall space, it got this instead of a wall sign! This was one of the first Seattle Safeways to get the Modern remodel, so I didn't get a chance to visit it prior to the remodel, but as far as I can tell, it just didn't have a produce department sign in the Lifestyle era. (Not sure about the original design, but there's a good chance it would have looked something like this.)
