Looking back down the actionway, I have to wonder if the zigzag panels were intentionally placed to be at its ends. If so, they didn't do a very good job, since neither is quite on center, but it's interesting how they're basically straight across from one another.
I just did some checking in on some urban Houston Krogers and it looks like maybe Urban Mix and Artisan are indeed here in Houston. The amount of photos of these stores with the new decor, even though both seem to date back to 2019, is quite limited.
ReplyDeleteRiver Oaks Kroger (Urban Mix...or is this something else?)
Here's a chance to see Urban Mix at a store with a tall drop ceiling and actual floor covering. This looks pretty good! It's a bit odd to see new decor using the old logo, but I won't complain, lol. This is the Kroger with the art deco exterior and it's in one of Houston's richest neighborhoods so it wouldn't be a surprise to see Kroger put more effort (drop ceilings, real floors) at this location. The fact that this location has Urban Mix might say something about Kroger's thoughts about what kind of neighborhoods where it belongs, but who knows.

Oak Forest Kroger (Artisan?)
This is a very oddly shaped urban Kroger so any decor is going to look strange here I suppose. Photos from this store are very limited.

What do you guys think about these Houston Krogers which seem to have new decor packages? Photos are so limited even though they've been in since 2019 so maybe people don't think these decor packages are photogenic, lol. But, actually, from the very limited photos, they seem better implemented than some of the other implementations I've seen of these packages.
Interesting! As you could probably guess, I like the one with Urban Mix but I'm not a huge fan of the one with Artisan. 😉 But both of those look like quite nice stores!
DeleteI agree with you, the Urban Mix River Oaks Kroger does look better from the limited angles we can see in those photos. Of course, that store is more interesting in general given the art deco exterior. But, yeah, it looks really good with the high drop ceiling and the flooring. Of course, the other wealthy area Kroger I shared with you that has Marketplace Banner decor with a high drop ceiling and actual floor cover looks really good as well. I just wish Kroger would give the rest of us the same flooring they give the wealthy area stores!
DeleteAs for the Artisan store, well, it's really hard to tell from the limited angles. The parts of that store which were photographed have flooring cover even though I think most of that store has stained concrete. It's hard to tell and that store has a really odd shape in order to squeeze into an oddly shaped piece of land so it might be hard to judge anything from that one store. That store is in what could be called an urban area that has become trendy in recent years and so that Kroger has picked up new competition from new Whole Foods and HEB stores in recent times. OTOH, Albertsons converted the Randall's in the area into an El Rancho.
But, yeah, Urban Mix and Artisan are in Houston after all! I can't be blamed for not knowing about it I think given the almost complete lack of photos of these stores even after a year and a half, lol.
