Like so much about Fry's, the cafe was a vaguely creepy affair, maybe alive, maybe dead. I didn't see any signs of things to buy in here, or anything to say what the hours of operation were, but all of the fixtures were still in place, and that cooler off to the left was clearly still powered up.
I don't know if the Fry's cafes stayed open until the very end, especially during the pandemic, but I do think they were open prior to that. However, it seemed they were only open for a few hours a day and maybe they weren't open everyday. I suppose they were open when they felt like being open, lol. So, yeah, that Fry's cafe was probably still operational when you visited it, but it was just not open at that current time. That's my best guess.
ReplyDeleteAs for your Fry's store not being open for walk-in liquidation fixture sales, well, that's strange. That's something in between the Houston stores that are open to the general public and the one Houston store that's not open at all. It's quite strange, but maybe Fry's has more fixtures at some locations than others and they might be moving stuff around to other locations to consolidate the liquidation.
Yeah, that's my guess too, though it was weird to not see any merchandise/food products anywhere. Who knows!
DeleteI'm really not sure what's going on. Here's the list I found (from this company). It all seems very weird!
Odd! Well, I can confirm that Je was able to visit the NASA Houston location and I'm pretty sure he didn't have an appointment. He even sent me some photos of the fixtures liquidation. I'm not sure, maybe it's one of those things where they won't turn people away as long as not too many people show up. Je probably did buy some Fry's memorabilia so maybe that helps since he wasn't just there to look around.
DeleteWeird! Who knows. Anyway, since there aren't listed hours or anything, I'm probably not going to invest most of a day to head down there... but we'll see what happens.
