There's just something about the random pair of slippers abandoned on the floor

The kids' department was looking extremely sad by this point, seemingly having been left out of the injection of leftover merchandise that many other departments had received. But, at least, it was a bit tidier than the average for this store by this point, and still had many of its original displays in place, rather than the plethora of cheap-looking rail racks.
