No, I'm never going to stop poking fun at the Alberboxes whenever I see them! Anyway, here's the Safeway version of the frozen aisle, which looks pretty much the same as before -- the contractor didn't even remember to paint the grey Albertsons cases black to match the rest of the store.
Wow, the flooring here looks so much worse than the flooring Albertsons had in this part of the store. This is really bad here. On the bowling theme, Safeway really threw a gutter ball with this here! Of course, I know there's a good chance that you'll disagree with me about the flooring, lol.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen those 'Alberboxes' here in Houston. Randall's usually puts Styrofoam coolers on top of their frozen food cases if there aren't lawn chairs or patio umbrellas up there. What do people usually buy the Alberboxes for?
Seeing the Albertsons logo is not too unusual in Randall's stores these days though. The paper wrap from the meat/seafood counter is the same ones they use in Albertsons stores. Sometimes they even have Albertsons bags at the checkouts, but the last time I was there, they had those odd "Thank You" bags that I mentioned before that had Albertsons, Tom Thumb, and Randall's names all on it. Of course, a few years ago, Safeway didn't really disguise their ownership of Randall's much either. In fact, it was even worse then!
Ha, I actually liked the old faux-wood flooring here! Meanwhile, the new concrete floor is obviously subpar (though not the worst I've seen in any way).
DeleteAs far as I know, no one buys the Alberboxes! That's the big mystery of them, and why I always point them out when I see them. Growing up in Port Angeles, the Albertsons always had these on top of the frozen cases, and I never saw anyone buy one. In fact, to this day, I've never seen one of these boxes anywhere but on top of a Safeway/Albertsons frozen case! So yeah, I have absolutely no idea what people would do with them, if anything.
Speaking of bags and Port Angeles, when I was in the Port Angeles Safeway recently, I noticed that they had new bags with both the Albertsons and Safeway logos on them! That's something I hadn't seen before, and seems a bit strange since they're clearly trying to phase out the Albertsons brand. My store in Seattle generally has plain, unbranded paper bags instead.
