Turning towards the back of the store, here's the liquor department with its new "Bottle Shop" sign. This department had virtually no signage prior to the remodel, but it feels like QFC overcorrected here -- the new sign is huge, almost as wide as the three aisles of the department itself! It's still a nice sign, though -- I quite like the elaborate hanging signs of Urban Mix. Behind that, another interesting sight is the mini number-only aisle markers for aisles 11 and 12, which are a rare sight in QFCs.
It's very interesting to see this package (or really any Kroger décor, for that matter) in a peaked roof store.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is! I'm pretty sure this is the only QFC with a gabled roof (that was never covered over by QFC's standard low drop ceiling), so it's not a normal thing for me either.
DeleteWe do have at least one Kroger in Houston with an angled roof. It's the one I mentioned a few days ago with the old Weingarten's sign. It's certainly an oddball! It has more of a barn roof shape than a gabled roof. This Kroger started out as a Weingarten's, became a Safeway in the early 1980s after Grand Union's short ownership of Weingarten's, then became an AppleTree, and then became a Kroger.
