The closing sale was progressing rather quickly in terms of discounts, as the base discount was all the way up to 60% (though, as we'll see later, they had introduced department-based discounts by this point, something that they didn't seem to do at the beginning of the sale), along with an extra 10% off in the store-closing tradition of arbitrary extra sales.
