The back aisle again looks pretty much the same as it used to, though at least some of the health and beauty aisles have aisle markers now (which is probably why this store now goes up to aisle 20). The meats sign is a bit strangely placed, right at the edge of the department -- and speaking of it, I recently saw that other Safeway divisions have a nicer way of doing these secondary department signs, with black shiny tiles to go along with the white ones for customer service and the pharmacy, rather than the plain black background seen here. I wish we would get something that nice in our stores, but it's probably too late now with pretty much every existing Safeway having this decor package now (and installed in the cheapest way possible, so deluxe upgrades like that surely weren't on the table). I found that picture through Retail Retell's Flickr favorites, which are always interesting to look through (if a bit overwhelming -- I don't know how you manage to look at that many pictures, Retail Retell! 🙂).
I have to admit that I don't sift through Flickr as much as I used to six or seven years ago. I usually just view Retail Retell and AFB's favorites to see all that is relevant to see. Every now and then, I'll find a neat new-ish image that has not been favorited (I don't think this is a real word, lol, I'm clearly improvising my vocabulary tonight) by Retail Retell and AFB and I feel like I've discovered some kind of rare gem, lol.
ReplyDeleteI generally go with variations of "fave" as the verb form :P
DeleteHa! I was going to call attention to the link construction and joke that I see you've been poking through my favorites, but you beat me to it in your own description XD Glad my favorites can be so influential to people, lol!
ReplyDeleteI try to follow as many retail related people as I can, but yeah, it absolutely gets overwhelming. Making things more complicated is that they got rid of the m.flickr site a long time ago. Now I don't look at photos on my phone at all -- I don't like the interface. Instead I just do it all on my laptop, which usually winds up resulting in an hours-long viewing session of stuff that I'm a week or two behind on precisely because I don't look at it on my phone anymore!
So, moral of the story -- I actually read these blogs more regularly than I look at flickr these days...
DeleteHa, normally I'd cut that sort of thing out of the link, but this time I decided I'd mention it specifically! It's odd to hear that Flickr got rid of their mobile site -- that seems to be the opposite direction of most websites. Personally, I always read stuff on my computer, since I don't much like looking at things on the small screen of my phone.
DeleteYeah, that was about 2017 or so. They replaced it with what they call a "responsive" version of the regular flickr, which I think is what several other websites have these days. So it's still mobile friendly (in theory), I just don't like it because the two pages I access the most - recent activity and my contacts' uploads - are not responsive (because flickr deliberately wants you to use their homepage or their app instead). In other words, nothing out of the ordinary for website decisions... 🙄
DeleteUgh, yeah, apps. I really hate it when places try to force you into using the apps... I forgot about that whole side of things since I do almost everything on desktop.
Delete100% agree.
