Welcome to the Ballard New Seasons Market!

This store opened in May 2018, and closed a year and a half later in December 2019 (I don't know the exact closure date, but it's just about a year ago now -- these pictures were taken December 14th, 2019 and the store was very close to closing at that point). New Seasons Market is a Portland-based chain of moderately-upscale grocery stores -- closer to Trader Joe's than to Whole Foods or PCC -- which had been trying to expand into the Seattle market. Unfortunately, in 2019, they were bought out by a South Korean company that already had an established presence in Seattle as Metropolitan Market (another very upscale brand that's quite similar to PCC), and that acquisition led to this store being closed, the other local one (a former Albertsons on Mercer Island) being converted to the Metropolitan Market brand, and the planned future stores being cancelled. This Seattle Times article gives some more background on the somewhat convoluted events leading up to this store's closure.
