Retail disruption up above, rail disruption down below

The next level down in the light rail station (yes, most of our stations are unnecessarily complicated with mezzanines galore) held this set of doors, which seemingly would once have led to a second basement level under the store. I say "seemingly" because I haven't ever seen any documentation that shows a second basement level -- for example, this picture of the old elevator directories, while rather out of focus, clearly only shows one level below "1". None of the plans I've been able to dig up have shown anything of interest down here either. So maybe I just really don't know what's going on. On, and off to the left of the maybe-doors -- yep, those are parts of an escalator, with an out of service sign in front of them to state the obvious. That's a pretty normal sight in Seattle's light rail stations, which have infamously unreliable elevators and escalators. That's the one thing I miss about back when I used to commute by train! (That's not what the title is referring to, though, if you missed the poster off to the right.)

That's it for this visit -- as always, that means it's time for me to start a new set tomorrow, before coming back for another look at the end of the Bon Marche!

    1. Yep! I really need to go by here again at some point to see if there's anything to see with Macy's gone. I'm leaning towards these being some sort of fake doors, but who knows.
