If I had remembered I had this picture, I wouldn't have had to speculate about when the closing sale started

Several of the closed checkouts had signs like these on them, which say that the store closing sale started on January 6th, 2020 -- just a few days before this visit. Apparently, this checkout was in the "weird metallic clothes" department!
