While many of the main floor departments were seemingly cleared out, the housewares section upstairs was fuller than ever. It's possible that some of this stuff may have been hiding in stockrooms, or just organized more neatly while the store was in normal operation, but I suspect that Macy's followed the time-honored tradition of shipping in merchandise that no one wanted for the store closing sale. At least the stuff seemed to be all stuff that Macy's would actually sell, unlike in some store closings -- but that's not surprising since it appears that Macy's doesn't contract out for their store closings (as all of the signage is Macy's branded).
