Architecturally, this store is a thin-shell concrete design, a design that was very popular in the Northwest in the 50s-60s (and elsewhere in the country too, though perhaps to a lesser extent -- I had an architecture professor who liked to talk about this style as a special Northwest thing, though I've seen similar things enough elsewhere that I'm not so sure about that). While this has a similar look to the Marina stores, just with smaller arches, structurally it's quite different (you don't have the beams that Marina stores have), and apparently this design is very susceptible to damage from earthquakes, which is part of why so few buildings of this style remain today.
