One of the most interesting things about this store to me is how it was integrated with the transit system. When the original Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel was built, not only was a station entrance built into the store, but a store entrance was built into the tunnel! Quite a few department stores were originally built with tunnel entrances, though I believe the Nordstrom one is the only one still in use.
