The Sears facade looks to have been updated at some point too (probably during the early-2000s remodel), and has a rather nice version of the common 90s logo (one of the only places this logo appears at this store). I have to say, the constant "blowout events" at Sears and Kmart can't possibly help with customer confidence that the stores aren't about to close! (Of course, this one, like so many other Sears stores, was in fact not far from closing!)
Fair point, but I think a major reason they started those sales in the first place is because they see how much busier the stores get when they begin liquidating!
ReplyDeleteHmm, that's a reasonable point too... I've just heard way too many people seem to think that Sears is completely going out of business over the last few years. The hometown store in Port Angeles has even had signs in the windows for a while now to try to tell people they aren't closing!
DeleteI believe it! I'd love to see a poll showing just how many people in the US don't realize Sears and/or Kmart are still around. I'd bet it's more than half.
DeleteAround here, especially with the hometown stores (which I don't think most people realize aren't the same thing as mainline Sears stores), there are still a good number of Sears stores left so I imagine people mostly know them still. Kmart is a different matter, of course! People around here would have to be really connected with retail happenings to know that they still exist at all.
